We are a sisterhood making a progressive and sustainable impact by empowering the Black community through public service.
PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE Greetings, Sorors & Friends!
Welcome to the official website of the Wilmington (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (“DST”). I am humbled, honored, and proud to serve as president of our esteemed chapter. We have a membership of more than 300 dedicated, talented, committed, multi-generational, college educated women. We advocate for and work together to provide a myriad of services for the Greater Wilmington community.
On March 6, 1949, 10 members of DST came together to form the first alumnae chapter in the State of Delaware (formerly "Gamma Omega Sigma Chapter"). Since its beginning, our chapter has kept its commitment to excellence in service. We have been consistently making a difference in the State of Delaware, with a focus on the Black communities.

Political Awareness and Involvement | International Awareness and Involvement
Our impact is most significantly felt through our signature programs, Jabberwock (a scholarship awards program), Empowering Our Sisters (an annual health education summit for young females and women of all ages), Financial Fortitude (annual educational outreaches for a variety of ages to increase financial literacy) and The R.E.D. Run 5k Walk/Race (source of scholarship support). Our most significant social action footprint in the community encompasses raising awareness of the importance of our voices. This involves sponsorship and support of voter registration forums and drives and other educational presentations and seminars to keep the community informed about a variety of important topics that impact their daily lives.
We believe in the power of good partnerships that align with our objectives. To better serve the community, we will continue to welcome opportunities to create alliances in the spirit of collaborative and shared excellence. Most of all, we continue to honor the values of our visionary Founders, distinguished Charter Members, and illustrious Sorority in all that we do as we strive to enhance the lives of those we serve.
Thank you for visiting our website! If you are a member of our beloved Sorority who is looking for a home chapter or just visiting in the area, we invite you to join us for a meeting or a public event. In the spirit of “Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service and Social Action”, we extend an invitation to all to visit our website frequently to obtain information about upcoming events.
